✈︎ About the Avro Vulcan
This Avro Vulcan aircraft print commemorates the aircraft’s final display season, presenting the iconic delta-wing bomber in formation with the Red Arrows.
The Avro Vulcan was a strategic bomber of the Royal Air Force and a key component of Britain’s Cold War nuclear deterrent. Introduced in the 1950s as part of the V-bomber force, its delta-wing configuration created one of the most distinctive silhouettes in British aviation history.
Beyond its strategic role, the Vulcan became an enduring symbol of British aerospace engineering. Its final flight in 2015marked the end of an era, drawing widespread public attention and renewed appreciation for the aircraft’s historical significance.
✈︎ About the Artwork
This composition presents the Avro Vulcan in formation with nine Red Arrows Hawk T1 aircraft, flown as a tribute during its final display season.
The top-down arrangement emphasises the contrast between the Vulcan’s expansive delta wing and the precise symmetry of the Hawks in V formation. Rendered through controlled line work, the aircraft are reduced to clean silhouettes while retaining their distinctive forms.
Metallic silver ink reflects the aluminium structures associated with British aerospace engineering, while subtle Morse code typography references aviation communication and legacy.
