✈︎ About the F-14 Tomcat
This F-14 Tomcat aircraft print presents the iconic carrier-based fighter in a disciplined top-down perspective, revealing the distinctive geometry of its variable-sweep wing.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a supersonic fleet-defence fighter developed for the United States Navy during the Cold War. Introduced in the 1970s, it was designed to intercept hostile aircraft at long range while operating from aircraft carriers.
Its most distinctive feature was its variable-sweep wing system, allowing the wings to extend for manoeuvrability at lower speeds and sweep back for supersonic flight. From above, this changing geometry gives the Tomcat one of the most recognisable silhouettes in modern military aviation.
Operated primarily from aircraft carriers, the F-14 became an enduring symbol of naval air power.
✈︎ About the Artwork
A top-down study of the F-14 Tomcat, presented in its fully swept configuration.
Bold line work reduces the aircraft to a sharp silhouette defined by the angular geometry of its variable-sweep wing. Metallic silver ink reflects aerospace materials, while subtle Morse code typography references naval aviation communication.
